Record Camp Presents: Martin Moscrop of A Certain Ratio.
Martin Moscrop from the Legendary Factory band A Certain Ratio will be doing
a 2 hour DJ set at Luxx in Brooklyn. ACR haven't performed in America in
over 15 years and for most of us this will probably be the only time we'll
ever see and hear anyone that was on the Factory label, aside from New
order.
Martin's description of what he'll be spinning is:
"Martins Encyclopaedia of Dance Music" I tend to play a lot of stuff which
has influenced ACR over the years as well as BIG Manchester tunes.
As a huge fan of Factory Records and the Manchester scene this is definitely
the greatest show Record Camp will ever do. I'm very excited about this and
can only really compare it to the feeling a Rolling Stones Fan must have if
they've ever met Mic Jagger.
This will be a night of Post Punk, Italo Disco, Dunk, Acid House and
Electro. A Certain Ratio were one of the first bands to embrace both Post
Punk Ethics and Dance Floor grooves. It makes sense that Andrew Weatherall
from 2 Lone Swordsmen (warp) say's that they're his favorite band of all
time.
Just in time for all of this ElectroClash stuff I suppose. This is the real
thing.Come by early and chat him up, he's a very nice guy.
Anyway, don't miss it!
