> My faveourite album of theirs has to be Atom Heart Mother... one of my alltime favourite tracks being Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast... Saucerfull of Secrets & Piper at the Gates of Dawn follow after that... Other things of a similar sound i've been getting into recently include... Soft Machine (Pscyhedelic mixed with lots of synths and a touch of jazz), Gong (More psychedelic and more jazz) & Love (more rocky psychedelic) interesting talk which bring back some old memories, anything by Pink Floyd with Syd Barrett is highly recommended. Love were great. Arthur Lee's manager was offering a solo album to labels last year, but it didn't match the older stuff... If you dig the above, you wanna try : Seeds Music Machine 13th Floor Elevators Moving Sidewalks' 2 albums (1st being more Garagey but 2nd very Psych. Note for the hairy among you that group featured the pre-guitarist of zz top...) the Litter (first one is a Garage classics, second is very acid-Psych) Electric Prunes volume 4 of the nice Pebbles series of compilations was devoted to weird Psych. Lotsa nice gems up there. Very essential the great series of comps detailing the Aussie scene : Ugly Things. First 3 volumes deal with some of the best Garage 6Ts punk, and volume 4 document the Psych side of australia. best ::: philippe | 0000 \\\\.. \\\\ __ http://www.bip-hop.com _---| 0000 \\\\..\\\\ contemporary electronica challenging the ears and the mind

The first few "Nuggets" comps are also good, inexpensive ways to get your feet wet into the whole 60s psychedelia scene...although I haven't found any of those with the classic "You Got the Love" by Professor Morrison's Lollipop. I did find it on a White Whale lable comp with a lot of old Turtles records, though. Wish I still had all of those old 45s which I used to have. jeff --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

hrvatski's "cirrus minor" seems sort of Pink Floyd-ish to me. It has grinding organ, strange vocals, sound effects, and seems to go on forever. Great tune, though. If you like either artist, I'd highly recommend it. -matT nashville.tn --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

oops sorry, It was volume 4 in the Ugly Things series... volume 4 of Pebbles was surf. I meant volume 3, subtitled "the acid gallery : a mind blowing collection of 18 demented classics from the psychedelic sixties". Vinyl came out in the late 70s on BFD, ant it seems like Bomp reissued on CD... A favourite on it is the "Spider & the Fly" by Monocles, obvioussly inspired by a scene from the vintage version of "the Fly", directed by Kurt Neuman. "Five years ahead of my times" by Third Bardo has become a classic. Quite hilarious are "suzy creamcheese" (teddy & his patches) and "horror asparagus stories" (the driving stupid), and fans of Kim Fowley's "trip" might like the variation by Godfrey. And the absolute stand-out is "Voices Green and Purple" by the Bees. best ::: philippe | 0000 \\\\.. \\\\ __ http://www.bip-hop.com _---| 0000 \\\\..\\\\ contemporary electronica challenging the ears and the mind --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

yes the very first Nuggets is an absolute gem. Did not mention it because most of the tracks appeared on other comps or albums later on. But when it appeared it was great. best ::: philippe | 0000 \\\\.. \\\\ __ http://www.bip-hop.com _---| 0000 \\\\..\\\\ contemporary electronica challenging the ears and the mind --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
