I'll chime in and say the high points are high enough that it's a very good album, and that, generally, he adds enough unexpected touches that he gets good use from a lot of familiar synth and sample sounds that would sound a pretty stale in some other context. the way he links funk, house and techno is pretty interesting, the guy's got a compelling musical vision. but I wouldn't blame anyone for being underwhelmed by some of the more atmospheric tracks -- not his strongest suit, some of them really drag after awhile. anyway, I still think a bunch of the tracks are up there with his best work, and hope he cooks up another volume. k --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

That's a good assessment. It doesn't make my top 10 Detroit techno albums of all time but it's a classic album by Hood. Another one of his more recent better sounding releases in my opinion is Monobox Population on M-Plant.
