Hi, Could anyone provide a review of the new Drexciya release? And if it hasn't been overly discussed, how does the newest Four Tet album compare to his previous work (I've only heard the new one)? Thanks! frank ps_Does anyone know approximately what time Monolake will perform 2-7 at Filter 14 in New York? The first Four Tet album is more sparse and rambly. I really like both, but 'Pause' sounds much more full sounding and "well" produced (in the most traditional sense) than the first, which is a bit more like an old Mo'Wax record. 'Dialogue' (I think that's the name of the first one) doesn't have the folky bits either ... more organs and some flute and some jazz samples. Did anything I just wrote mean anything to you? :-) Michael - http://www.ampcast.com/jetjaguar --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

hello, i've only listened to each of them a few times now, but i really enjoy the new drexciya. i got a late start on the whole UR/detroit thing, so my familiarity with drexciya's previous work is limited to "the quest" and "neptune's lair," but i enjoy the new one ("harnessed the storm") more than either of those. it has a few really nice more dancefloor-oriented cuts like "digital tsunami" (the first 12" from the album) that are, in my opinion anyway, worth the price of admission alone. there are many of the expected strange sounds and some surprises here and there too. once again there is a sort of theme running thru these tracks, many references to water and the life cycle. it's certainly nothing new but entirely worthwhile. the fourtet seems more informed by his experiences with fridge and has some more organic qualities here and there. it sounds a lot more focused and developed than "dialogue." "dialogue" is a good album as well although i've only heard it a couple of times, and not very recently, but i'd have to vouch for the new one over that one. hope this helps a little? bye _________________________________________________________________ MSN Photos is the easiest way to share and print your photos: http://photos.msn.com/support/worldwide.aspx --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
