hey all,
just wanted to point out that I just picked up the "Transambient" DVD at my
local DVD store yesterday here in the Bay Area, since it seems to have been
released in the US via Moonshine.
"Transambient" was a chill-out music+visuals series which ran on Channel 4
in the UK a year or two back - the DVD features 8 pieces running 94 minutes
from artists who you may not have heard of (Visual Cortex, Glimpse,
Spiral3), but whose output seems really neat. Oh, and the final track has
music by 808 State, who you _have_ heard of :P
The first couple of tracks I've checked out are real cut-up filmed stuff
with lots of shots of nature (flowers, insects), and the style seems pretty
neat compared to the tedious badly rendered fractal bollocks that
characterises a lot of this type of stuff :)
Moonshine have also released a "Spaced Out" comp with the likes of Coldcut
and Brian Kane from EBN guesting, which I didn't get - lots of NASA footage
cut-up, apparently - anyone picked it up yet?
Links to the two releases at the Moonshine site:

"Spaced Out" at:

Both of these were already released in the UK last year, but I never saw
much discussion on-list, possibly because the list does seem quite
US-centric nowadays. Neat stuff, tho I think some of the music in isolation
on "Transambient" may be a bit trance-like for listmembers (hence the
Moonshine connection in the US). Personally, I dug it :) There's more mellow
stuff on there too.
regards,
h0l.
