maybe i was a bit naive to think that "amon tobin live at the knitting factory" meant that i was going to see amon perform his music. rather it was him and "p-love" playing records. so maybe it is completely impossible to perform electronic music live - it can only be done by playing records on turntables. and even if amon can play a handful of instruments, i guess it wouldnt really have been his music, since he mainly writes electronic music (which we now know can only be performed by being played off a record). maybe one thing that enhanced the live experience was the exceedingly high volume at which the music was played. loud treble, heavy bass, and an omitted midrange really give it that club feel. who wants to hear all of that musical stuff in the middle when we came to hear the beats loop over and over? the beats certainly inspired the crowd to move and dance in all different ways. as it was a sold out show, the small roomspace made it a nice, snug atmosphere. it seemed like there were alot of smokers in the crowd, so it was probably good that the tight ventilation kept all the smoke in so they could recycle their tobacco smoke (cigarettes are getting expensive these days). i'm not a drinker, but i bet those who guzzled a 6pack before the show enjoyed the concert even more than i. all in all, the music was interesting, nice and repetitive, sometimes fast, sometimes slow. it was good and long. amon even played a couple of his songs. well, i'm awfully tired and its after 4am, so i'll cut some of the details and thank amon tobin for taking my 22 dollars and 2db of my hearing. chris --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

The SCAM sale of a full DJ setup is appearing on a wide range of email lists around the San Francisco bay area and beyond today. If you see this offer on another list, PLEASE warn the list that it is NOT true. (See the new email, which I am including below.) Characteristics of the scam: 1. Each time the site is hosted on iwarp.com. 2. Each time, the sale has been for a LOT of equipment for only $500 - $600. Too good to be true, and it is. Never buy used equipment without seeing it first or without some enforcable delivery guarantee. Period.
