hello folks been a while ... actually i let my account lapse for 3 months cos i am suffering from spam overload ... anyway there is only one electronic album this year that i keep on playing and playing and it just kills me every time it is REI HARAKAMI's new one on Sublime, i guess its been out about 3 months his previous stuff was ok but nothing like this! very complex but with clean streamlined edges this is the perfect antidote to bullshit techno its so original comparisons are difficult although if you like John Beltran and Plaid you will love this! i playd this last week at the Camp Electric festival in denmark and people went crazy ..... this is certainly going to be in my end-of-year poll selections ... if you only buy one electronic cd this year ... buy this one! ps the album is cd only but there's a 4-track ep on vinyl ..... -- ------ look out for my new compilation ABSTRACT FUNK THEORY (Obsessive) coming soon (!!) ... new IRRESISTIBLE FORCE album on NINJA TUNE .... NINJA TUNE is 10 years old! http://www.xentour.net NINJA TUNE RECORDINGS- http://www.ninjatune.net http://piratetv.net --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

oh no! not just ok... his first album "unrest" ist 1st choice!
quoted 1 line ps the album is cd only but there's a 4-track ep on vinyl .....> ps the album is cd only but there's a 4-track ep on vinyl .....
yes, titled "blind/swap EP" with two album tracks, one non-album track + one different. there is also a 7" single titled "red curb again EP" with two tracks (i think one is the different then album version). at 22.08.2001 14:27 Uhr, ?? ???t wrote:

as much as i know - album + EP's are japan releases ONLY (but i could be wrong). *** also coming end of october "red curb remix album". i'll get the promotional soon and report about it on the atom page http://atom-heart.com because of atom rmx there. enjoy, but safely =: ma_hovina > http://sjever.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Does anyone have Rei Harakami - Red Curb cd on Sublime? I've heard good things about it, but it seems very hard to find. Mixmaster Morris described it as " very complex but with clean streamlined edges this is the perfect antidote to bullshit techno its so original comparisons are difficult although if you like John Beltran and Plaid you will love this!" __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? I got it through a friend that lived in Tokyo for a while. Even she had some trouble finding it (i.e. it wasn't in the first Virgin Megastore she walked in but the 2nd.) The recommendation by Mixmaster Morris was a major influence for hunting it down -- but I would not say it recalls Plaid to me in any way. Plaid is more accessible and immediate with beats playing a major role, whereas Red Curb is abstract, bleeby and mainly beatless. It doesn't have the pop edge to lure you into playing it again and again -- you have to be in the mood for it. As a result, I haven't listened to it as much as I would have liked but I do find it a great album. I would not call it "techno" either, as my usual working definition of the word is beat-oriented tracks or straight- forward ambience with a single mood. Red Curb has the techno sound but many of the tracks are all over the place, changing pace and mood abruptly. There's also plenty of space within the tracks, the soundscape is not cluttered with anything extra. If I was pushed for a comparison I'd say it sounds somewhat like the album "Patience is the key" by Tone Language (not that that necessarily helps, I have no idea how well-spread or -liked this album is) but with a more playful edge.
