Yeah, i'm wit ya on this one. Pretty strange and shifting record. Wasn't too sure on it at first, but a real grower. I love the packaging also, the little cloth printed carry bag. So the album is named 'Drei', did you notice that every track is three minutes long except the last track, being 30 seconds. And i guess they're not really separate tracks as they all just kinda flow into each other. quite diverse styles in there. From clunky beat old school autechre style through kinda dubby hip hop, and i seem to remember a track with a kinda cheesy rave female vocal which gradually gets more and more tweaked out. i like that one! -thor --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Cheesy rave female vocal?!?! I think you mean the one-and-only Randy Crawford. Wash your mouth out with soap immediately, young man! oops! sorry~! :) i had to do a web search to find out who Randy Crawford was, and i found http://www.delafont.com/music_acts/Randy-Crawford.htm which states that "Randy Crawford may be available for your next special event. Call us!" sounds good. still sounds like a '94 era drum 'n' bass / breakbeat track tho! -thor --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

I've been listening to a lot of Beefcake stuff recently. I ordered the re-release (first time on cd) of a couple early 12"s plus a couple new tracks on Hymen, but it hasn't shown up in the mail quite yet. I noticed on the Ad Noiseum mailorder page (adnoiseum.net) that they have a new cd-ep out on M-Tronic with some new tunes plus remixes by Venetian Snares, Electronicat, Zoviet France and more. Anybody heard this? It looks intriguing. Have they been having label problems? Their last two cds came out on Hymen, as well as those early 12"s and the new re-release, yet they've had about a dozen compilation-exclusive tracks in the past couple years, but no new full-length. It seems odd to me that an artist would put out that many comp tracks without an album.

i would not really rave too much about "drei" and the remix cd. two new tracks on the re-release are not all that wonderful as well. i'd say as beefcake they have achieved the top level and it's time to move on in different directions. as an alternative to beefcake's ideological roots and similar composition/feel i would really recommend tekniq. also, displacer on m-tronic, end on hymen, proem's "among others", perhaps latest crunch. i am sure idm list would have more suggestions :) as for beefcake, gabor has been quite active with his machiste project (full-length cd, remix cd upcoming and split with the isolations - all three out on thrill beat construction), as well as under the names of wighnomy brothers and robag wruhme he has released over a dozen (!) releases on f.a.t oh, and (as usual) most of the stuff above has been mentioned/reviewed on "seven" -- anton seven.editor http://www.nezzwerk.com/seven icq://2623520 --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

I used to have the CD which was issued in the neat-o miniature book bag type thing ("Drei", wasn't it?). Very good.
