Has anyone compiled all electronic music print and online magazine publications? I'm not that interested in the larger ones (like XLR8R and whatnot), but pubs like Grooves and Thumb (both of which i enjoy very much, particularly Thumb with it's more homegrown zine feel)... anyone have any others they like? with paper cuts, nat a new home for indie rock and electronics http://www.littlefurythings.com _________________________________________________________________ MSN Photos is the easiest way to share and print your photos: http://photos.msn.com/support/worldwide.aspx --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

While I'm chuffed that anyone thinks XLR8R is "large" in any fashion, I'd like to lend my admittedly biased perspective to remind you that we're not as "mainstream" as lots of folks might think. We cover a broad range of electronic music and culture, from club-oriented music (house, techno, d'n'b) to far left-field sound art, and a fair amount of what gets called "experimental" (IDM, microsound, whatnot) in-between. Not to mention, we're one of the only magazines ever to put Kit Clayton on the cover.... I'll echo philip's words on xlr8r and add that its the only magazine i've seen that will print an advert for some wankery from Astralwerks and/or Moonshine (ravers pay our rent!) while simultaneously publishing an incredibly damning review of the same record. Now that's either editorial balls or financial suicide... -i Various - Sonar 2001 - Excellent variety of shite! --- Philip Sherburne <psherburne@jeevessolutions.com> wrote:

Check out http://www.monolake.de/live/ontour0.html It looks like Robert Henke is going to be in Anaheim. I can't tell if is going to perform or just show off his Software? [ January 2002. 17-20 Robert Henke presents Ableton Live at NAMM show, Anaheim , USA ] ---------------------------- Ableton Live 1.0 sequencing instrument Live 1.0 is revolutionary new music software. Live allows for real time performance and manipulation of soundfiles and loops with a degree of freedom never reached before by any other software or hardware. It comes with a collection of very cool, very monolake like effects, it has ASIO , VST, it runs on Mac and PC , it can be controlled and synced via MIDI, it is easy and fast to use ... And it has been developed amongst others by monolake`s Gerhard Behles and Robert Henke. Gerhard Behles is one of the founders of the company and Robert Henke is a driving force in the conception and development team. If it would be hardware you would propably find some chips in it called "monolake effects driver" or "ML X 504" ( what ever this would mean... ) Live is based on ideas which came up during music production and performance over the last years. If you are looking for the spirit of monolake you should play with the effects section, especially with Grain Delay, Filter Delay, Vinyl Distortion, and other more exotic plug ins. They have been developed by Robert Henke and have been used e.g. widely on "Gravity" __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Send FREE video emails in Yahoo! Monolake is playing clonk in Toronto on Feb.8th and a Montreal gig around the same time. I don't know if he is doing any other dates but if anyone is looking to book Robert they should contact http://www.remoteagency.com/ as I believe they handle him in North America now. The rip off artist is also playing at that NAMM show. ~g -- Greg Smith http://www.technowest.org http://www.laiad.com http://www.mediawhore.cc <-- coming soon to a theatre near you on 1/12/02 1:40 AM, William Samuels at w_technoir@yahoo.com scrawled:
