Absolutely! Actually, I find it a great deal more readable than the wire. One complaint- I don't like the font that they use for the headers for the reviews, but other than that I think its the best resource out there for IDM. Its really great to see a magazine that started off small develop into what it is now :) Rob ::::::Component Records::::::: Box 783, Somers, Ct 06071 www.componentrecords.com Out Now: Neutronic-"The Mutation Engine" ----- Original Message ----- From: Kent williams <kent@avalon.net> To: i'd do mary <idm@hyperreal.org> Sent: Friday, January 11, 2002 9:58 AM Subject: [idm] fark nic endo, what about Grooves???

So, enough about Nic Endo ... what do you think of Grooves? I have been writing for it for a while so I'm biased but I've been really impressed by the overall quality of the magazine -- it's like an American Wire, without the smarmy pretension. It looks great too. Great work Sean! I picked up #6 in the West Village a month ago and have read it back to front twice over. I love it. Very well written. Kudos to you and Mr. Clow. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

The man deserving the kudos is Sean Portnoy, who puts it together as a labor of love. My contribution is just reviews, and Sean has had to nag me to get them done in a timely manner. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

amen! i agree grooves is hands down the best mag in the USA for cutting edge electronic music, i have every issue 1-7. the first issue was just a small step up from a fan zine in look, no color, slightly better than newsprint paper, but inside it was very professional from the start. it had interviews with richard devine, and john hughs...two ppl that are big now that i knew little or nothing about then, and a load of reviews of artists that i had never heard of before and then went to bent crayon and bought a bunch of it. so grooves has most def reached out to ppl all across the country and the world now, and has really given a voice for the musics that we all love, and has helped to shed light on artists and labels that would not have that light without grooves. kudos to all involved with grooves, especially sean...good work, i look forward to future issues! my only suggestions would be to have a larger live show reviews, and maybe have local/regional "scene" reports section. Yeah, you know what else would be cool? Have a unsigned/demo review section. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
