Hi I'm 23 years old and living in Montreal. I've been listening to electronic music since 1997. I joined the list because I plan on reducing my demand for alcohol and increasing my demand for cds, so I'll need some help in that department. I listen to Solvent and Lowfish incessantly and can't wait for the Skanfrom cd to come out. I also love both Snow Robot cds. I've been listening to Polygon Window - Surfing on Sinewaves a heck of a lot lately too. Other than that I've got a lot of David Kristian, Brian Eno, Kraftwerk, Depeche Mode, Vince Clarke, Raymond Scott and others. I also love Kevin Saunderson. Based on all this rather vague information, what else should I be listening to. I like gritty, beefy sounds and I find that usually means analog synthesizers. I have a Roland SH5 myself which I've been screwing around with, and an Oberheim DX drum machine. That's all for now, thanks Marc. ______________________________________________________ Send your holiday cheer with http://greetings.yahoo.ca --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

anytime anyone mentions analog, Boards of Canada is usually the next three words they get in response... Heh. Just check 'em out if you haven't already cuz they're good. You might also check out some of the material on Morr Music - definitely ISAN, Lali Puna ... Solvent's latest album is on Morr Music, and they have a nice compilation called Putting the Morr Back In Morrissey. That would be to find more of the same sort of stuff it seems you're enjoying right now. If you're feeling a little adventurous and want to try some things that might be a step or two away from what you're currently enjoying (i.e., not the same, but not radically different either), the best thing to do would be to try out a few of the other recent (past couple years) compilations from various popular labels. It's an excellent and cheap way to get acquainted with a ton of artists and labels. I'd recommend: . Neurokinetic [toytronic] www.toytronic.com . Squadron [merck] www.m3rck.net . Aurora [merck] . Integral Components [component] www.componentrecords.com . Warp: Routine [warp] www.warprecords.com . Cottage Industries [neo ouija] www.neoouija.com . Annexe: Cottage Industries 2 [neo ouija] . Cashier Escape Route [city centre offices] www.city-centre-offices.de . The Cosmic Forces of Mu [planet ?] www.planet-mu.com . The Braindance Coincidence [rephlex] www.rephlex.com . MD2 [n5md] www.n5md.com That last one is only if you have a MiniDisc player... And, naturally, there are plenty more to explore. Other than that, some of my favorite artists are Gimmik, Proem, Arovane, Machine Drum/Syndrone, Freeform, Phonem, MD, and, well, many others! :P ===== .Adam http://www.damek.org/ __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? hello, i would recommend the following CDs based on what you've listed below: solenoid "the narcissist" (hiao hiao hiao) styrofoam "the point misser" (morr) phonem "hydroelectric" (morr) b.fleischmann "choir of empty beds" (fuzzybox) e*vax "parking lot music" (audio dregs) sack & blumm "sack & blumm" (tomlab) hermann & kleine "kickboard girl" (morr) ulrich schnauss "far away trains passing by" (city centre offices) v/a "cashier escape route" (city centre offices) zorn "the city's collapsing" (lux nigra) v/a "neurokinetic" (toytronic) if you have a turntable, i would suggest these new wave tinged techhouse 12" releases: sascha funke "when will i be famous?" (bpitch control) toktok vs. soffy-o "missy queen is dead" (bpitch control) parallax corporation "crocodiles in the sky" (viewlexx) mathias schaffhauser "hey little girl" (ware) basically anything on city centre offices and morr music is likely to please your ears. lots of pretty melodies and crunchy (sometimes not so) beats.

I LOVE it - great track, cover of an original Ice House song. This version is also included on the Sonar 2001 double disc (as well as Mathias S's own Love and Business album). Who said cheesy??
