The new L'entrepot contains this time only one project related to this list but a very good one from the German Heimelektro ulm label;
ATTENTION-INDUSTRIES MEETS PATRICIA OAKLEY: Pattern of L.CD 14/01/2002 Heimelektro ulm
Attention Industries is the melting from Michael Zimmerman's Attention Disorder and the project Elf Attn. Industries wherefore he works with Karsten Drohsel. For this CD have this Germans the help of the UK vocalist Patricia Oakley.
The start point is the boundary between electronic (& samples) and jazzy lounge music with much attention for the details and arrangements so that in many cases soundtrack is not the right description and we better can speak of real songs. Only the first tracks and especially the second "Inhale exhale outro" can be called experimental.
But than we hear in the instrumental "Dee One" the first chary jazz influences. In "Camouflage" hear we strongly the ethnic samples (sitar & percussion) which where already there in the previous but under the surface. Further "Face the Fact" the first track with Patricia Oakley, song with a strong Jazz - lounge feeling with the easy telling voice of Oakley. Also the other tunes with her are work out with Jazzy arrangements and keep relaxed so they a lounge feeling. Only in the last track with whit Oakley "Pieces of me short version" they combine the soul full voice of her with ratter minimal electronic but with the necessary "warm" samples. Between the tunes with vocals Zimmerman and Drohsel are showing us all there talent and try to convince use with filmistick soundscapes with many warm, ethnic sounds.
A charming CD which give shape to a large range of influences. Above all a relaxing CD, very pleasant listening to it, smooths but still interesting. And mostly are those two things, which goes not good together with many artists. I can recommend this CD for people who like The Beige Oscillator & DJ Attaché. The CD have also a nice worked out CD-rom part.
