Okay. First: does anyone have laptop recommendations for an beginner electionic musician? I think preferably windows-based, as I'm quite comfortable with it. I need some portability. Any nudge in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. Second: recently I got a beautiful disc called 'Japanese Masterpieces For The Shakuhachi' (amazingly beautiful, I highly recommend it). I'm starting to think that I've been a little narrow minded when it comes to "foreign" instrumentation. Now, I'm not looking for any World-Beat kind of stuff, but I was hoping that some of you could make some recommendations for some interesting eastern sounds...again, any help is much appreciated. Care to narrow it down a little? Some forms are much older than European-type classical music. The Wire had a review of some shakuhachi CD last month, but maybe it's the same one.
