I highly recommend both of the above releases. I've been really
enjoying both of these for about two weeks. The Murcof ep features an
innovative mix of clicktechno and orchestra samples (of all things)
from this Tijuana, Mexico producer. when i first heard a description
of the music i was a bit apprehensive but after one listen those
reservations were dispelled. think dark piano chords, violins, cellos
all delicately interacting with sparse percussive movements. i
actually played three of the four tracks from this ep on last
wednesday's inaudible show. Very nice stuff. Does anybody know of any
other releases by Murcof? I'm eager to hear more! But do check out
the mp3s of this one available from the above link.
The Phon.o cd is also a gem for those into the dubby berlin techo
sound in the vein of kit clayton, sutekh, substance, dj jasper,
various artists, cytrax, chain reaction, etc. The Phon.o 12" from
earlier this year on cytrax is also well worth tracking down.
