december carpark holiday cheer your menu today greg davis/hrvatski, takagi masakatsu, and miss dinky dates carpark 2002 releases marumari on mtv2 carpark keychains the rumor mill the december tours carpark artist greg davis has embarked upon a short US tour with fellow boston resident hrvatski. they just played at the empty bottle in chicago and they'll be playing in cleveland tonight. here are the dates: greg davis/hrvatski US tour: december 5th - cleveland - speaking in tongues - with twine december 6th - brooklyn - level x - record camp night with bit meddler, fragment king, and kurt ralske and lukasz on visuals (<http://www.recordcamp.com>www.recordcamp.com) december 7th - princeton, nj - terrace club december 8th - manhattan - merce cunningham studio - kurt ralske and lukasz on visuals, Chantal Yzermans dancing/choreography (this should be an amazing show!) (<http://www.merce.org>www.merce.org) december 9th - williamsburg, VA - college of william and mary december 10th - baltimore - mission space - with while and telia (<http://www.missionmedia.net>www.missionmedia.net) takagi masakatsu european dates: december 6th - cologne - with karaoke kalk december 8th - cologne - with karaoke kalk december 14th - paris - batofar (<http://www.batofar.org>www.batofar.org) december 17th - paris - art school, 11 rue du petit thouars, metro : republique miss dinky: december 10th and 29th - santiago, chile the new stuff carpark is planning a busy 2002. starting off the 2002 release schedule is the carpark debut by greg davis entitled "arbor." you can find more info about it at the carpark shop (<http://www.carparkrecords.com/carparkshop.html>www.carparkrecords.com/carparkshop.html) "arbor" is a beautiful mix of acoustic guitar, laptop, organs, and glockenspiel. to give you more of an idea greg is a big fan of jim o'rourke and leo kottke. the record hits shops on february 19th. planned for march of 2002 is the marumari remix cd. remixers include electric company, to rococo rot, lusine, cex, greg davis, casino vs. japan, lackluster, and stars as eyes. the cd will also feature the marumari "baby m" video as well as a short video about marumari's dog bacon with music by o9. april should see the carpark debut of japanese artist ogurusu norihide. ogurusu is a friend of takagi masakatsu and is studying to be a shinto priest in tokyo. his music is a unique balance of piano, acoustic guitar, and laptop. no one element takes over the other. ogurusu has self-released two eps in japan and carpark will be putting them out as one cd tentatively entitled "humour." should appeal to fans of the beatles, jorge ben, taylor deupree, and brian eno. more to come! carpark will also be working more with takagi masakatsu. we're excited to report that takagi will release his "journal for people" dvd on daisyworld (<http://www.daisyworld.co.jp>www.daisyworld.co.jp) in japan this july. this is the label run by hosono from yellow magic orchestra. this is a really great opportunity for takagi! carpark will release journal for people in territories outside japan. we also have some other projects planned with takagi but can't announce anything yet :) and of course we didn't forget about the safety scissors/kit clayton ping pong cd. not sure of a release date but it is a 2002 release. we recently heard a track from it and it sounds amazing. can't wait for this one to come out. whew! and those are only the DEFINITE releases planned for 2002. marumari baby m video on mtv2 in north america "baby m" premiered on mtv2's amp last friday! it was video #2 right after clinic and right before death in vegas. we apologize for misleading everyone in the last newsletter as we thought the video would be showing two weeks ago. it's in rotation now so check out amp from 10 to midnight every friday on mtv2 in north america. you can also vote for the video on the mtv2 request website (<http://www.mtv.com/onair/mtv2/requests.jhtml>http://www.mtv.com/onair/mtv2/requests.jhtml) so do your part and vote! the video has also been getting play on musique plus in canada, mtv europe, and viva in germany. carpark in chains we now have carpark keychains. carpark #13 is a lovely white thingie with the blue carpark logo on it. the keychain also features an infrared light which will help you find your key hole in the dark. the keychain also doubles as an excellent track finder for djs! carpark is offering the keychains exclusively through the carpark shop for 3 dollars. however since we are in the holiday spirit, we will include one FREE with any carpark shop order over $15! how's that for something? plus you'll get a carpark sticker too! this offer will be around until christmas. more gossip those looking to expand their marumari collection will be interested to know about a couple new non-carpark releases. marumari has a track on the contact records' fort thunder tribute compilation. included here are lightning bolt, quintron, fucking champs, black dice, lesser, the music tapes and more. also be on the lookout for the new tristeza remix record called "mixed signals" on tigerstyle. marumari is on there with sientific american, styrofoam, windy and carl, lackluster, simon raymonde (from the cocteau twins) and others. this one is coming out february 5th. takagi masakatsu's "pia" cd has been ranked #78 in the amazon.com's music editor's top 100 of 2001. also lookout for a feature on "japanese minimalism" featuring takagi in an upcoming issue of mojo magazine. takagi will be spending a good deal of the spring in germany this year, so if anyone in the area is interested in seeing takagi's amazing live show please do get in touch! also circulating through the rumor mill is news that greg davis will be touring europe this spring with hrvatski. more details to come. look out for hrvatski's full length on planet mu and an upcoming release as keith fullerton whitman on kranky. til next year thanks for reading...happy holidays! best, todd carpark --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
