well 2001 is almost over- and by january VVM will finally catch up
with itself back in the old routine.old routine.old routine/
for now there is just too much news- too much to report but it's good
to be busy--// sorry for the unusual format of this mail (it actually
makes some kind of sense)- but there's that much to report sometimes
it's the only way-
V/VM WEBSITE >>
1st up the web-site has had a big redesign and went up last month,
right now it looks sparse- but as a platform the structure is in
place to make it a really useful place to visit,// design wise it is
simple for the reason that eventually there will be a lot of content
and the last thing you want when trying to find the information you
need is to wait for some badly designed image to download---------//
the meat of the site will be added to the bones soon-- so just remain
patient. <

AUCTION FOR JEFFREY >>
2nd up in october i held an auction for jeffrey a neighbour that went
missing, in this auction i sold VVMT1/2/5 and new releases packages-
and i'm pleased to report that most items were sold and in excess of
650pounds was raised- the family have already been given over
400pounds so far and as soon as the rest is cleared they will be
giving all remaining money which will hopefully help in the location
of their son. Meeting his parents was humbling right now and they
extend their thanks to all those who purchased records for their
generosity. For further information regarding the background
of jeffrey's visit >

V/VM NO SHOW IN PORTUGAL >>
apologies to those of you who were expecting to See V/Vm live in
portugal at the numero Festival at the beginning of January. The
organisers were unfortunatly put in an impossible position by our
good friend Robin Aspel (Scanner) who claimed that he would refuse to
play if V/Vm were also on the bill and the organisers found it in
everybodies best interests that we did not attend. For Scanner to
react in this way itself a direct result of recieving criticisms from
V/VM about his music is unfortunate but not unexpected. The full
information surrounding all of this will be found on the Web-Site
soon and we are aware that this has been going on for some time.
Unfortunately the experimental scene as with most scenes is run by so
called untouchable musicians who if you want to "get on" you don;t
cross. If you do cross them you end up alienated by certain media and
things like this happen, but then so be it. Our attitudes will not
change.

BALD GEORGE >>
it's with a huge amount of sadness that one of our closest allies
passed away suddenly last month Big Bald George. He will be sadly
missed by all at V/Vm and by all those who knew him, George
frequently helped us out with advice about releases and whenever we
played in the UK was a frequent attendee of V/Vm events (often
capturing shows on video- indeed we will be posting footage from our
recent show at the V+A in london on the web-site in the new year
which was shot by george). He was a great supporter of V/Vm and an
even better friend. George also recently helped us out with the
mastering and track selection on the forthcoming Caretaker CD and on
behalf of all those associated with V/Vm and those who knew him
through V/Vm activity we send best wishes to all those people he has
left behind.
END OF YEAR >>
the end of the year is upon us and once again V/VM as a label and an
artist has managed to survive - itself a big achievment. In terms of
releases this has been a good year for V/VM with over 20 new releases
this year on the label featuring a myriad of new and established
artists and the best thing currently is that V/VM is able to release
and support new artists who otherwise would have no platform to
release music on. Our commitment remains in releasing music by new
artists and music that we like and support. Whilst this can lead to
problems (as following V/VM is always a mixed bag some you like and
some you don;t) it makes for running a more exciting and spontaneous
label and one which still proves a big challenge for V/VM. It would
be easy to just release safe material as many others do this but we
always like the harder option of challenging those who follow what we
do and long may that attitude continue.
As for 2002 who knows what it may bring music wise. We have the
caretaker out in January and then we'll take a little break release
wise and currently have no concrete plans ..so i can guarantee that
whatever follows music wise will hopefully provide a new direction
for both the label and its output/
take care***
Best wishes *
V/VM
