rant/ So the other day I went to see DJ Spooky at a huge warehouse in DUMBO the other day. I was thinking that it would be a good opportunity to see spooky do some interesting cutups and such and I could just chill and take in (what is left of) the Manhattan skyline. Why the fuck must every show I go to be a fucking drug-fueled, athletic freak out event. Am I an old man for wanting to just listen to good music when I go to a show? I'm getting really tired of the same old muddied, verbed out acoustics and visor wearing monkeys with glowsticks. Even the Warp party at the Frying pan was the same way. damn... Now I got nothing wrong with getting a good freak on, but are there any parties with decent sound and people who are actually there to listen and the performer is actually there to perform, not just provide a trampoline for the eTards to jump up and down on? I'd love to sit in a theatre and listen to a great act and sip a pint where I don't have to pay ticketmaster. Is that too much to ask? come on New York. /end rant --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
