not necessarily. i would agree that there are distinct similarities between
Otto and Richard Devine's music. so, if you're not yet acquainted with
Devine's "Richard Coleman Devine" 12" or the "Lipswitch" disc i highly
recommend them both. also, you might want to look into the Schematic
compilations (Ischemic Folks and Lily of the Valley, especially) for a
crosssection of their roster.
you should look into Phthalocyanine, on both the Phthalo and Planet ?
labels. really chaotic stuff, crazy. not quite as mathematically generated
in sound as Otto but very interesting. Also, Leafcutter John on Planet ? is
doing some interesting things with sound. on a slightly less related level I
would recommend Jamie Lidell's "Muddlin Gear" which was one of my favorite
releases from 2000.
not familiar with anyone on mp3.com that sounds similar, sorry.
