Just got the new Hausmusik double CD sampler/anniversary release, "Do You Think That I'll Be Different When Your Through". A great selection of artists on here from the Hausmusik label family (Kollaps, Payola, Morr Music, etc.), including B. Fleischmann, Console, Blond, Tied & Tickled Trio, etc. I'm only on the second track of the first disc, and it features glitchy beats, a banjo, and freeform jazz horns. Hot damn! new ish from a new NYC label ... i've been enjoying this disc quite a bit ... and it's cheap enough to just grab and check out ... $5+S/H ... C. Slunt Recordings 59m34s New York City's Slunt Recordings proudly announces it's debut record release, the compilation 59m34s. It is the product of a collaboration between four local producers, with each coming from a different sphere of influences, techniques and philosophies. The tracks on 59m34s range from uptempo beats and warm, IDM-influenced melodies to icy cold atmospherics, minimal drums and more than a hint of dub leanings. These influences are melded and molded even further by cross-collaborations between the artists, resulting in entirely new formulations and styles. Havok: The solo work of Rocco Biondo takes aim at the dancefloor with a microscopic digital scalpel and lands somewhere between noise and beats. Shaper of Patterns: With an emphasis on warm, engrossing melodies, Brendan Foley paints a beautifully-synthesized landscape hearkening back to the early days of IDM. Srce_Cde: Rocco Biondo (Havok) and Brendan Foley (Shaper of Patterns) join forces to present heavy, mechanical hip-hop beats coated with sombre melodies. Dhex: Embracing the frequent malfunctions of his equipment Michael O'Connor fuses mechanical mishaps and minidisc recordings with ambient textures and scattered percussion. Dub Trousers: Steve Nappa (Ecologie) Michael O'Connor (Dhex) mesh the rhythmic cadence of human voices and cascading synthesized melodies in a playful live setting. Ecologie: Organic ambience and dubbed-out breaks are Steve Nappa's instruments of choice, using them to mold an upbeat sonic environment.
