speaking of geoff white and jasper, both have mixes on the new electric company "greatest hits" remix compilation. I've only made it through the disc once since I purchased it yesterday, but it's got some interesting sounds, featuring reconstructions by kid606, leafcutter john, phthalocyanine, kim cascone, frank bretschneider, blectum from blechdom, pimmon, lexaunculpt, mu-ziq and more. it runs the gamut from four-on-the-floor tracks (jasper) to delicate melodic sounds (electric co) and the usual chaos (Blectum, leafcutter john). on the tech-house side of things, i picked up the new reinhard voigt "im wandel der zeit" which is what you might expect if you're familiar with either kompakt or profan, or any of his releases as SRI... pretty straightforward, barebones tracks, really slick stuff though. he doesn't layer much in the way of effects or atmospheres, and his tracks are better off for it as they work so well based on their simplicity. really good, solid stuff. also, on a side note, i picked up the new kit clayton CD, "lateral forces," on the vertical form label. it's pretty good, really heavy on the atmospheres, no tech-house leanings at all this time around. while i do like it, i still can't shake comparisons to pole and vladislav delay, who seem to be more successful in the end with this dub-reverb-delay sound.... anyway, as a mini-album (clocking in at under 40 min) it works fairly well. +------------------------------------+ m.mercer :: systm audio-visual communicator http://artists.mp3s.com/artists/98/systm.html mmercer@kent.edu :: vletrmx@hotmail.com
