Thought I had to chime in. Coming from more of an indie background (Creation, Factory, 4AD), back in 93 I picked up Volume 8 featuring Autechre, Global Communication, B12, Juno Reactor, Curve etc. For some reason, I found Autechre's "Lanx 3" to be, not necessarily the best, but the most unique and interesting track. So this was my first exposure to Warp. A few months later I picked up Seefeel's "Starethrough" EP at the Deep Grooves in St. Louis. Technically the first Warp release I purchased. Wow, what an incredible piece of work - definitely underrated. The whole combination of shoegazer textures, dub and electronica that Seefeel was doing at the time was so groundbreaking at the time. I've basically been a fan of the label since. I picked up both Autechre's "Anti" EP and Seefeel's "Fracture/Tied" upon their release 1994. Again, those EPs were equally impressive and were in my CD carousel for weeks to come. Not to be nostalgic, but I don't I've been as excited about music as I was then. All the Clear, Warp, Rephlex, and eventually SKAM releases that were coming out on a weekly basis. The music is still good, but one's first exposure to something new is always the most satisfying. There was just so much new good music to absorb at the time. Warp was always the driving force behind this excitement for me. So as ABBA would say, thank you for the music Warp! -Mike --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
