For the love of god, will SOMEONE please play Richmond or DC? I mean, I realize that DC is a tiny, remote city of very little importance, but could someone maybe do a show there just as a personal favor to me? If you need more information regarding the whereabouts of Richmond or Washington DC, please let me know and I'll point them out on a map. Thanks in advance, Danny --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

You know, if you're really interested in having somebody play Richmond or DC, organize a show yourself. It really isn't as hard as you might imagine. Here's the basics: -find a venue you think would be good -find an artist or (or several artists) you'd like to hear -contact them & find out if they'd be interested in playing. they'll want to know things like: how much will they be paid, what's the venue like, and who else is on the bill? these 3 are the biggies for getting it organized; after that, it's all about promotion. I'm being dead serious with this message, by the way - it really is *not* that difficult to get a show organized. Having everything turn out right is the tough part...you learn *that* part by experience & asking people who have done it before. Talk to the people behind the bar or mixing board at the venues you're interested in - they can generally set you in the right direction. DIY, baby, DIY. chris moore (while) and chris coady (diskette) are from baltimore and have expressed similar regards...that there is no place/no-one doing IDM/electronic shows in the DC/balto area. so yes please take BVL's advice and set some stuff up yourself...after you find a place and some acts etc...you'll need to promote your ass off, and pull in every favor that is owed, but it looks like that area is ripe for someone to hit it up. the red-room is in baltimore, they do the high-zero fest...more on the avant-music side of things and i know that richard chartier has a weekly event on sundays in DC, IDM and microsound stuff, and i am aware of at least one IDM dj type night in baltimore...forget who does it but the guys who run it post on here quite a bit. but anyhow these are some ppl you can hook up with if the desire to get the scene going in the DC/balto area...also a guy named jason urick was doing some stuff awhile back, he set up the once.twice fest last year. here is some contact info: chartier@3particles.com richard chartier room_temp@hotmail.com jason urick http://www.redroom.org/ hope this helps and goodluck. It's pretty much the same deal up in Philly, if not worse. The closest that I ever see regular IDM shows is in NYC. I'm all for throwing some shit together... --nm On Thu, 4 Oct 2001, Greg Malcolm wrote:
