Well okay I decided to write a few music reviews and
stuff to help clear the cobwebs of my brain and
hopefully lighten the collective mood a bit.Some of
this if not all of it is a bit dated, but fuck it, it
beats discussing whether or not Boards of Canada are
terrorists.
Felix Kubin-3" japan tour promo cd- This has a funny
drawing of a three-headed baby and a cyclops surgeon
on the cover. Six songs, its great! What can I say,
quirky goofey but not too wierd or annoying kind of
toy electronica. I like almost all of this guys stuff.
Pigeon Funk-(proptronix)-This is Kit Clayton and
Sutekh I'm pretty sure, and kind of a housey/acid kind
of a departure for them, but I think the idea works
well. I like the idea of more experimental cats doing
"normal" genres, as they come up with some nice sounds
and arrangements on this. Wa better than most house I
have to say.
Hamijama"anchient Cities" (Beta Bodega)- Wow talk
about techno!One side of this has to be Jake
Mandell,since he is the only IDM type fella that can
pull off techno and have it sound really good. The
other side is someone else, also nice more in that
Schematic sort of vien, the IDM "Sound" more. Whatever
that means.Its neat...
Groenland Orchester "Nurobic" (Staubgold)-I dont know
what it is but I usually really like this type of
goofy video game commedore type stuff, but I havent
really gotten off on this release. I dont know what it
is "too", maybe its too or not enough, I dunno.
Ovuca"Wasted Sunday"(Rephlex)-Holy sheepshit is this
disk great!A kind of radical departure from his
previous work, a lot more mature in my eyes, some
truly great arrangements and sounds, one of those
disks I hear new shit every time I listen to it.
Downtempo(?) but not boring, and a lot of the tracks
are longer than two minutes which was one of the
annoying factors of his last disk. This is probably my
favorite of the lot.
SpeedyJ "Ieee Mitten Menu"-(Novamute)- Wow another
disk featuring good house! Whats up with all the good
housey stuff? I normally hate house. The first side is
wicked fast evil breakbeat, the second side has one
really good house track and then another really gritty
noisy techno/house track.Overall excellent stuff.
2ct7 appr.65mg ingested-Wow this stuff is the
strongest friggin psychedelic stuff ever, not for the
timid. It definitley takes you beyond the gates of the
bardo, and if you dont know what the bardo is, there
is no way you should even think about taking this!
Takes you into complete other worlds, does very
interesting things with time, makes LSD look like kids
stuff. Although it can take you into some dark realms,
it takes you out of them just as quickly and into
blissfull worlds of equal magnitude.You will
definitley see things that you have never seen before,
or immagined existed. A definite rollercoaster ride,
as a friend said. Educate yourself on this one, dont
combine it with MDMA, or anything else for that
matter, get the dosage right-very important because
there is not a great difference between enough and too
much of this stuff, and it can be very harmful if not
fatal in too great a quantity.Definitley not a party
drug. Dont take it at burning man, like I did, in
other words.
2CI-20mg ingested- This is cool stuff, pretty mellow
relativley. Took a while to adjust to, 1-2 hours, then
its kind of like I dunno really clear and easy to work
with. Not exactley drug escapism, but you can look at
things from a sort of enhanced way without having the
"Conspiracy theory" that accompanies LSD or even
Marijuana and most psychedelics. Nice visual
element,REALLY does cool stuff with music (that new
Ovuca sounded amazing).. my girlfriend loved it,
actually said it was the best thing she has ever
taken, really good for communication. I can see this
bieng a fun social thing, sorta MDMA like but without
the ferocious hangover. Okay I shut up about drukqs
now.
War-USA-2001-Bad! I am definitley not into this stuff
at all, makes you feel wierd and buggy, can lead to
depression and anxiety and feelings of hopelessness.
Religious fundamentalism justifying violence and
terrorism-No cant say I am too big of a fan, they do
that kind of stuff all the time in Ireland and all its
gotten is more people dead and pissed off at each
other .If anyone offers you Religiuos Fundamentalism
or War, JUST SAY NO!!!!
