Hello all, I've been listening to the Fennesz-Endless Summer album a lot lately. Can anyone recommend similar works? Is his other work as lovely? I'm specifically trying to find more of the guitar + glitch sound. Any help would really appreciated. Thank you! best, frank Lucas Schoormans Gallery 508 W 26th St., 11B New York, NY 10001 www.lucasschoormans.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Audiosamples + more info could be found on www.earational.org an absolute classic from Fennesz is "Fennesz plays" 7" (reissued oncds by Moikai) wich set the base for his "Endless Summer". Similar work might be Novisad new "Seleya" album (tomlab), some of the work from Pimmon (Assembler f.i.), our own Ovil Bianca "Gravity=love" and Köhn (both kraak), and equally beautiful Vert: Köln concert (sonig) and Paul Wyrkus: "Mymikri" (Gustaff rec).

hello i would recommend that you look into the newer Oval records such as "process" and especially "commers" ... a bit noisier and more digital sound processing, but the "commers" record becomes almost tuneful in spots. also, the Oval-related Microstoria project is worth looking into, especially the newest one (Model 3, Step 2). I agree though, the new Fennesz is quite handsome.

His two other albuns "plus forty seven degrees 56' 37" minus sixteen degrees 51' 08" and "Hotel Paral.lel" are similar, but without the aproximation to melody he did in "Endless Summer". But they fit the guitar + glitch sound you mention. The 3 albuns are very, very good. Fennesz also made part of the Austrian big-band Orchester 33 1/3, which is more post-rock-kraut oriented, and has great sound, mixing jazz, electronics and experimentation. And he participated in the second album by Shabotinsky, along with Christof Kurzmann aka B. Fleishman. Also give a listen to Rafael Toral.
