Aaaaaah kay.... well, this all sorta recalls an ol' college radio war
story here...
Back when I did a radio show on KUCI, I had this band called the
Primordial Undermind play live on the show... circa 1992 or something.
They were from the L.A./Pomona area and had sort of a psych/indie pop
thing going on.. they's be good.
Anyway, one of the guys in the band, Eric, requested to play a Flaming
Lips song "Maximum Dream For Evil Knievel" as a break in between the live
set. From there, we all went outside the main studio and were talking
about all sorts of things..
..until we realized that we were talking for a good 15 minutes, even
though the song was still playing, and the song length is really just
under 3 minutes..
Go figure... the song skipped in the middle of the line "MY BACKYARD!",
just *perfectly* on the beat, smooth as silk... not even a pop. Much
embarrassment was had, and we all enjoyed a good hearty laugh.
I have another story about UFOs and Michael Stipe, but that'll come in
another post...
