I just found a remix of "Flim" by Acapella. It's all done with is voice, and it's actually not that bad. I was just wondering if anyone knows of any more beatboxed IDM. Just pure vocal stuff, not mixed up with instruments or anything. Beatbox-IDM is something that I'm really interested in. Both me and my brother try to get as complex with it as our skill will allow. Ultimately I think it would be great to get a group of four or five people going at the same time and performing live. Like in tube stations and stuff. Anyway, that's beside the point. For now I'd like to hear what else is out there! --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Just heard another Acapella remix of and Aphex song (Funny Little Man) over at www.aphextwin.nu It's not as well done as the Flim one, but still interesting. It's too much like singing, however. Or more like those 50s songs with a quartet of guys doing harmonies. I'm really looking for "electronic"-type beatbox. With complex percussions and funky melodies. All done using the human voice. Does this exist as yet? --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Not really IDM, but on Ninja Tune's Xen Cuts, disc 3, track 1, Saul Williams - Twice the First Time, there's some nice human beatboxing going on. (and the rest of Xen Cuts is excellent as well). -C Ben Kirkley said at Ò[idm] Beatboxing IDMÓ. [Aug/30/2001 14:11]

Hmm, that's a bit to "laaaa" for me. I'm kinda looking for less singing and more IDM-ish stuff. Thanks though : ) --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Not arcade game music. Beatboxing, but not the stupid hip-hop kind. I mean like human-IDM stuff. The closest example I have is Aphex's "Flim" beatboxed by Acapella (got it from audiogalaxy). Arcade game beatbox is a bit simpler than what I'm thinking of, but it'd still be interesting to hear some. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

It's quite nice actually, a bit childish and funny:) The sounds are in style of old CASIO keyboards. Reminds me some old computer games music. /sasha On 30/8/01 2:52 pm, "Ben Kirkley" <ben.kirkley@displaypost.co.uk> wrote:

Oh god, here we go. I forget that you have to watch every single word you type on this list. I say "the stupid hip-hop kind" with love. I've been into it since childhood, but I find it stale now (personally that is). I think that the IDM style could have a lot more potential and might even been less restrictive (?). Rahzel and Scratch are both great btw. I agree.

Fair point. I ought to consider the end-reader more when I type. Some days I think about it more than others, but today isn't one of them. I'll keep it in check next time :) Ta, BK
