OK I''ve no problem putting MP3's to CD but audibly what is the best method that gives you the best sound without distortion, and proper levels? Any help would be very appreciative. Since the MP3 format is standardized around the decoder, just about any technique you can find that sounds ok is probably about optimal. Put another way: ISO tells everyone how to decode an MP3 in no uncertain terms. The differences in MP3 audio quality and encoding speed come from variations amongst encoders (which are mostly proprietary). Personally I use Cool Edit Pro or Nero CD burner software to decode but there are plenty of free alternatives. -M Rusty Householter wrote:

Or put still another way: Once it is encoded, the damage is already done. Raw bitrate does not tell the whole story. When encoding, use the best encoder you can get your hands on and listen hard for defects. When decoding, trust your ears. -M --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

well... An often suggested step is to normalize the said wave files before burning the CD. As to whether this makes much of a difference, I'm not really sure, but it can't really hurt...unless you normalize to over 100 percent, and that's just silly! Ebola np: Skinny Puppy
