Lockett" Subject: See Sense Just a quick word to tip listees the wink on what seems to me the most accomplished release from an Australian electronica artist. Sense's _Fourier Transformations_ (a 6-track mini-album) is one to file next to your (off the top of my head, for reference purposes) early AE, Arovane, Phonem, Bola, Lackluster, and Thug discs. Plenty of skittery beats, melancholic melodics, and sometimes cinematic atmospherics (esp. on track 1: Day Off). More energetic and dynamic than Lackluster's _Container_, more atmospheric resonance than Phonem's _Hydro Electric_, and with more sonic dimension to it than Thug's _Isolated Rhythm Chock_, it shares most, I think, with some of Arovane's (_atol scrap) and Bola's (_Soup_) work, though the lineage (back to the UK ambi-tech of Aphex and AE) is evident. With this release Adam Raisbeck (for Sense is he) has shown himself more than worthy of admission to the Wistful Rhythmic Ambient canon. alan/beyond...sound _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
