Kurt, I have to agree with you here. I was extremely disappointed especially when only having heard, "around the house" and his "100 lbs" cds, I was expecting something just as house-ful. Lyrics just dont cut it for me, Nina..........well now, I dunno(skeptical, but I'd try it)....... With all this complaining, I will add that Matthew is a musician trying to do new things, and thats commendable in and of itself. I'll just wait for his next LP to drop. the singing isn't up to the task of being the centerpiece of the album. for the kind of singing it's supposed to be, it just don't got the technique or the emotions or the ability to really put the words across. the lyrics, which breezily riff on torchy lounge songs, want to have a great singer. you know, call up nina simone or something. boy, then you'd have some IDM, huh?
