alright, so it's 1 am i worked 10 hours today and i have to be at work at 7
am - yeah i'm feeling philosophical.
i listen to IDM because these artists (at least the one's i dig) understand
that beauty lies in melancholy
i listen to IDM because it captures the feeling of standing on a windswept
hill at 6am watching the sunrise over the ocean
i listen to IDM because nobody else does
i listen to IDM because when i actually meet someone who's into it (outside
of cyberspace), it's like we have some dirty little secret that only we
share.
i listen to IDM because it's the only thing, musically speaking, that is
still innovative and interesting to my ears
i listen to IDM because, unlike alot of other electronic music, i will still
be listening to these records in twenty years
i listen to IDM because i love analog snyths
i listen to IDM because i love DSP wankery
i listen to IDM because it's international. communism died and russian
music exploded (at least for those of us paying attention) - what's cooler
than that?
i listen to IDM because otherwise i wouldn't be subscribed to some madcap
list made up of mad crazy music fanatics. you all are worse than me, and i
didn't think that was possible!
i listen to IDM because i can play with it. yes, i will always prefer vinyl
to cd.
i listen to IDM because it is elitst and populist all at the same time. IDM
is the success of the bedroom producer. press a key, do you like that
sound? press it again. then press a record. but at the same time, are you
IDM enough????
i listen to IDM because i get up in the morning for music and nothing else
even comes close
i listen to IDM because of BoC, i s a n, Freescha, lackluster, +one,
arovane, phonem, plaid, autechre, aphex, gas, global communication, the orb,
hermann & kleine, novel23, prefuse73, future3, (number theories anyone?), b.
fleischman, e*vax, casino v. japan, geiom, sense, pub, lali puna, opiate,
dub tractor, irresistable force, solvent, aspen, boulderdash, unagai patrol,
datathief, jet jaguar, markant, pbxo, zorn, metamatics, push button objects,
ko-wreck technique, funkstorung, tim tetlow, pole, monolake, phonecia,
squarepusher, mikael romaneneko, mum, styrofoam, to rococo rot, while, bola,
technicolor, single cell orchestra, marumari, crunch, four tet, we,
flowchart, lexaunculpt, pilote, luke vibert, just to name a few...
i listen to IDM because i couldn't imagine listening to anything else
ok so maybe i wasn't exactly feeling philosophical. sappy might be a better
word... :-)
you all are great. keep up the utter insanity that is the IDM list.

np: lackluster - container
