OK, then, here's a list of IDM artists and what I
associate them with:
Boards of Canada: melancholic, nostalgic
(both sad & happy)
Aphex Twin: shit-faced happy at times,
dead pet dog sad at times
Plaid: generally happy, with some sad
Autechre: no emotions! robot machine music!
Plone: syrupy sugar funhouse crazy happy
Proem: crunchy cotton candy,
like BoC as far as emotions go.
Freeform: crazy clown who scares the shit out
of otherwise happy kids at circus
Jamie Liddell: 1950's Tunnel of BLAAHRKRILLUG!
Marumari: happy like reading old pulp scifi/horror
Kid-606: Angry yet oddly erotic, like fat Elvis
E*Vax: melancholy, nostalgic
Clarence Park: even the dark stuff makes me happy
Capitol K: just rocking; I guess it makes me happy
Cylob: sorta weak version of aphex
(happy & sad stuff, enjoyable, but...)

that, and lyrics. even yer average sad goth-kid will
shy away from the saddedt music if it doesn't have
lyrics.
