Totally agree. It's also horribly rampant, and is why most people are deathly afraid of singing, drawing, or painting just for fun.

This always becomes the case whenever a style of music becomes relatively popular. This is also a valid argument why someone would want to stay on the cutting edge -- just enjoying a style for what it is can get really stagnant, and fast. You'd be surprised at the amount of people who "want to make music just like aphex twin." There isn't any real dexterity that needs to be learned, there isn't any real music background, but by jorge, they have the programs and they're gonna do it! The advantage to instruments like guitars or piano is that it's relatively obvious when you hear someone who's good, and who cares about what they're playing. This isn't to say that you should only pursue virtuosos, but someone who cares about what they're doing is going to end up sounding a lot better than someone who g0t th3 l4t35t w4r3z h4x0r 4ppz f0r th31r k3wl ch00nz. So, idm needs a little more caring.
