a few things I know of: 7/27 - Slicker, Beneath Autumn Sky @ Level X 8/22-26 SinFest 2001 (Happy to see Machine Drum added on 8/23 :) 8/23-24 Spshr/Plaid @ Irving Plaza (I think I'm gonna go after all) 9/25-26 Amon Tobin @ Shine I'd like to see Mr. Tobin, but isn't Shine, like, really expensive/upscale/annoying? Not sure I want to see anyone there... Anything else notable going on out here in the near future? BTW, does anyone else get tired of nightclubs, bars, etc.? Does anyone else think maybe NYC would benefit from at least one, er, "alternative" live-music setting? Like, some good food and "healthy" (for lack of a better word) drinks while taking in the sounds? Any little vegetarian restaurants out there want to host some laptop twiddlers? (sounds so nasty...) -Adam __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Make international calls for as low as $.04/minute with Yahoo! I'm in Toronto, not NYC, but I can definately relate to this complaint. As promoters of small scale electronic/experimental events, we've gotten pretty sick of having to deal with smoky, rock-oriented venues that charge stupid rental fees and care more about selling beer than making the performers happy. Thankfully, we've recently discovered a little venue called Now Lounge that is quite different. It's clean & well-ventilated, and while they serve alcohol, they also have tasty food (pizza, sandwiches, salads - much of it veggie friendly), great coffee and other drinks. Plus friendly staff, a half-decent sound system, and no money-related hassles. We did a show with Marumari there a couple of weeks ago that went really well, and are bringing Accelera Deck in for a show on August 22nd, with tentative plans for more stuff in the fall. Happy happy happy. :) Greg --- Greg Clow - greg@stainedproductions.com - greg@feedbackmonitor.com concert & event promotions - http://www.stainedproductions.com electronic music radio/reviews/interviews - http://www.feedbackmonitor.com 158 Close Ave. 2nd Floor - Toronto, Ontario M6K 2V5 - Canada --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

I saw (heard) Peaches at the Siren Festival, which was a lot of fun mainly due to the charm of Coney Island, and I have to say that i was throughly unimpressed. What's the attraction? It seems that a lot of New Yorker like that act. If I were one of those music writer-types, I think I'd use the phrase: "Preset-Pretense" --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
