I received a copy of Ruoho's 'Spaces' the other day -- it is really excellent ambient sound; it really earns its title. Is there anything similar in this vein from his earlier stuff -- or from other musicians? Esa Ruoho stems from the pc demo / tracker 'scene', so much of his earlier work may resemble artists in the same scene. Try http://www.scene.org for links to old music (check the ftp site). More up-to-date may be the other M3rck artists. I'd personally recommend checking out the works of Lassi Nikko et al, under his project name brothomStates. Some songs are definately in the same vein, see: http://www.brothomstates.com Brothomstates played at Sonar2001 (just an mp3-set actually right before the Aphex dj-set) -- he's releasing an EP and later on an album at a record label called Warp ;) See their site for details. -- Christian Stigen Larsen -- http://www.sublevel3.org csl@sublevel3.org mob: +47 98220215 --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Cant say that I heard 'Spaces' but he did a blistering set in the ambient vein at a club in his country.....I just let my brother use it or I'd give you the details..... That dawg-gone Esa has a sound which is distinctfully original, probably due to his environ, and he can really strike-up some nice melodies.......when the film is plenty(U may not understand that last sentence, but he will)........ a couple of his 7" has some ambient flavor to them also... ----- Original Message ----- From: Alex Reynolds Sent: Tuesday, July 24, 2001 12:15 PM To: idm@hyperreal.org Subject: [idm] esa ruoho I received a copy of Ruoho's 'Spaces' the other day -- it is really excellent ambient sound; it really earns its title.
