hi, i know this is OT but i figured there should be a couple people here who can help me, is there any good mp3 trading (napster-type) software currently availible for the mac? there are all these great programs coming up like audiogalaxy and soulseek and i can't believe there isn't something for the mac in this regard. thanks what is on topic...: how are the different senking releases different from each other? i'm looking for mellow minimal vaguely-dub influenced oceanic bass heavy "techno" (although it doesn't need to have a 4/4 beat, or a beat at all) along the lines of Various Artists' later stuff, vladislav delay's early stuff, and i've heard senking is a good place to look...which album is the best? are there other artists i'm missing? one more thing, what are the opinions on the latest mouse on mars release, and how does it sound? thanks choralone5 --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

download either the mactella client, or limewire... go to download.com and search.

i only have one senking release, and i wouldn't necessarily lump it in with those artists you mentioned. the one i have is "trial" on the raster label (part of the static series) and it very crisp, dark, reverbated pops and glitches... one of the best releases on that label i've heard. also leagues above a lot of the stuff on mille plateaux (which i am a big fan of too, if that's any indication). as for the other senking releases... can't help you there, sorry

i love it. it is a logical extension of "niun niggung", going further away from IDM pretense and more toward their own off-kilter brand of pop music. there are vocals on a few of the tracks, often processed or cut up but occasionally clean and melodic. it's way better than i would have expected, and possibly my favorite mouse on mars release. if you are a fan of their kitschier, newer stuff, you'll probably like it, but if you are more into the "instrumentals" or lithops more serious stuff, then it may not be your tea. +------------------------------------+ m.mercer :: systm audio-visual communicator http://artists.mp3s.com/artists/98/systm.html mmercer@kent.edu :: vletrmx@hotmail.com _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

ditto for this... Idiology is a brilliant album. It's pop, and has heaps of their quirky sounds, but it can also be quite harsh in places. This and Autoditacker are my two fave MoM albums... It's the new drummer singing on this album apparently... and the lyrics are actually pretty out there once you work out what he's singing.... dhave config http://www.mp3.com.au/dhave_config/

Aside from the software for mac option, you could try to run Virtual PC (www.connectix.com, i believe) and then soulseek through that. I've heard that the VPC that was demo'ed at MacWorld NY was a real step forward. I don't know how expensive a piece of software that is or its final release date (probably September this year). But, if you don't have any moral issues with using cracked software (and i doubt you will judging by what motivated the post), then maybe you can track down a pretty recent version of VPC with hotline (www.hotlinesw.com). Or carracho.com. if you end up doing that, please let me know how it works out. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
