Most likely ripped. Bill leeb has taked a few things from Aphex....some samples from ventolin in a track on hardwired and the beat from the aphex twin remix of Meat Beat Manifesto in a noise unit track. FLA and other Leeb projects have always been pretty sample happy, but a bit too clearly obvious. I wouldn't doubt that at all. I've caught them sampling bits of Orbital and Underworld as well. I have trouble understanding why FLA chooses to sample other electronic artists' sounds and beats very blatantly, when they themselves are electronic composers. TekDz9er

According to a friend of mine, whose a self-proclaimed big fan, "it's their thing man - they take other's stuff and like, recycle it." That's why they're "front line assembly." They take things that are popular, or on the "front line" of music, and reassemble it. It's a nice idea, but it usually sounds more like jacked beats over uninspired industrial. I prefer Negativland any day. cheers, /derek At 09:39 PM 7/18/2001 -0400, Rob Salit wrote:

Playing delirium at the gap has made for some fun moments though... A friend of mine worked at a Hastings (CD/Book/Video store for everyone that doesn't live in the US Midwest :) ), and every time a new delerium album came out, it would be yuppie migration time to buy the new album. So one time a couple comes in asking for it, and he asks if they'd like to hear one of the other projects done by the people who do Delerium. Of course, they ask if it sounds like Enya before he puts it in, because they like that sort of thing. Anyways, in goes Tactical Neutral Implant. They put on the headphones, and what can only be expressed as a look of sheer terror comes over their face. They don't believe it's the same project until shown that Bill Leeb's name is in both of the CD inserts. Hey, at least he didn't put on Millineum. ;) Kyle
