Well, i don't generally listen to d&b (or like it), so
that might mean my advice is uninformed (while in some
ways maybe meeting a higher standard?).
anyway, check out K-rad. they have a site called "pad
k-rad" or something (just do a google search, should
be able to find it pretty easy)--you can play their
"boom box" or download free mp3's. they're cool guys,
and will probably send you records directly if you
email them.
not everything they do is drum&bass, but the d&b i've
heard them do is good. and i RARELY like d&b.
that aside, i think afx's "hangeable auto bulb" (the
first one) remains my favorite d&b, after all these
years.
you say that the "jungle" you've checked out is too
repetitive? "jungle" is what they called d&b until i
think 1994, when someone said that it was a racist
term. so i guess you're referring to the older
styles, like the sort of hardcore rave sounding stuff
or stuff with raga elements and the speeded up vocals
and stuff...
i kind of have a softspot in my heart for those old
jungle tracks actually. which reminds me, probably my
favorite squarepusher is the jungle track he did for
mask 500.
