I think you accidentally said "black" when you actually meant "white".

Mos Def. Talib Kweli. There's two (both taking very different pathways to common visions - check _Black on Both Sides_ if you don't think you can fit Stevie Wonder, Doug E. Fresh, and Charles Earland on the same record groove). (Mos Def was also the brightest spot on DJ Spooky's tour 2 years ago - there's the IDM quotient) Need I mention the Roots, too? Or even Erykah Badu? We could all go on ...

Although question 1 has nothing to do with question 2 - I think I get your gist. Can you name the unnamed samples that course throughout Pete Rock and CL Smooth's _Mecca and the Soul Brother_? Or their _The Main Ingredient_? Or even any Third Bass song? No. Sample-ripping isn't bad, per se, when done with the spirit of anonymity. Any other way is just grandstanding/money grubbing populism. Profanity is neither here nor there (seen any Kevin Smith film?). Although I would be thrilled if Vladislav Delay's next album was all booty shaking ghetto jack. Maybe he could hurl some Finnish expletives over the top about his "hoes" and making big lucce. It would probably get 5/5 in every magazine review as they would rave about his constant reinvention, so we're probably all full of it and should shut up. I'll go first.
