I dunno, I saw DJ Spooky last year at the Vancouver Jazz Festival, and I have to say I found him lacking in any kind of stage presence. I can't complain much though, as I got to see the New Deal and the Clifford Gilberto Rhythm combination that night also. But on the DJ Spooky thread, I just picked up File Under Futurism with the Freight Elevator Quartet, and it is sick sick sick. I can't believe I slept on it for so long (the album is what, 2 years old now?). I don't like much of DJ Spookys other output (aside from Object Unknown), but the cd, and especially the opening track, is one of the most interesting takes on d'n'b I've heard in a while (well, except Go Plastic, but isn't that 2-step, :P). To switch gears, if you wanna see someone on the turntables with a little more enthousiasm, catch Kid Koala. Saw him with Bullfrog again last night, and as always, he ruled. You lucky east coasters will get a chance to see him open for Radiohead on their dates over there. If you aren't going to Radiohead, you're so missing out. Their show in Vancouver was too good. If only for the pristine sound quality I would recommend it. Andrea Parker was the opening DJ for my date. I dunno, she didn't really do anything except put on DJ Shadow records. Didn't impress me much. Cheers
