quoted 10 lines Marcus Eoin of BoC:

Hmmm...I don't think BoC are quite there yet :-) It's a good excuse to go
back and listen to Strawberry Fields though, which is a great piece of
music. That bit Marcus Eoin refers to always gives me the impression that
everyone continued playing after the faders were pulled down at the end of
the track, and five minutes later they had wound up in some sort of
psychedelic skiffle jam which someone thought to grab on tape before it was
lost forever. Now I *know* this is not true, because the album was actually
recorded with loads of overdubs and is quite calculated, but I'm happy to
forget about all that when I just sit back and listen to it.
Some of that Beatles/George Martin stuff is 'totally IDM' ;-)
Anyway, I like those short BoC pieces as much as the long ones, but some of
them sound like undeveloped little ideas that were too good to throw away,
rather than musical statements. I don't want to sound too critical, as I do
the same thing myself when I am making tapes for friends, sometimes I just
throw a 30-second synth noodle in between other stuff or at the end of the
tape to leave a personal stamp on it.
