I think that's part of the appeal. Would you rather they just not include the tracks at all? To me, I get the impression that Mike and Marcus had the melodies, and just though "you know, this is already really good, i don't wanna mess it up." Sometimes you just come up with little things that sound really good, but probably wouldn't work as songs. It's a lot easier to do with melodies than rhythm. I'd rather hear those things and appreciate them for what they are than not hear them at all. I'm personally in love with "triangles and rhombuses;" I wish the melody would just go on forever :D On a technical note, almost all the melodies in songs are relatively simple and drawn out, while the melody-snippets tend to be quite a bit more complex. I personally think including them on the album was a great decision, and really makes the album "sticky" cheers, /derek --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

I'm not sure. I do like them for being there on the record. OTOH if they were mine I think I'd keep them in the studio and try to develop the idea when the time was right.

I see your point, though I think a lot of things like that do have great song potential.

't & r' works very well IMHO, that's a piece which is just right for the short treatment. I'm not sure I agree about the complexity of the snippets, I don't think it's necessarily a barrier to putting some of them in a longer context. They certainly do make the album more interesting anyway. And if I do decide to have a go at remixing one of them, they're easy to sample :-) Anig Browl _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
