AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! That was so good. It's an absolute shame the club wasn't pack to the rims... but that's surely the best electro/nuskool breaks DJ set I've ever, ever witnessed. Everything adhered that general electro beat -- somewhere between J.J. Fad's "Supersonic" and the Munich mix of ABC's "Be Near Me" -- but far more warped, amplified, and sick sounding -- and there was endless variety surrounding that beat for the 2.5 hour set. (Nice little alterations of Outkast and ESG thrown in for good measure) Kudos to I-Spy for having a nice sound system. Also worth mentioning were the local openers, Smile vs. Subconscious.... they slammed it down nice as well. I'll definitely keep tabs on their future appearances. Again, I appreciate finally living in a city where breaks is at least somewhat respected. The concept of Simply Jeff fanatics seemed alien to me until last night. Q (uberzone) and Simply Jeff are completely underappreciated in their native southern California -- where candy trance is still the leader of the roost, and the club scene is severely handicapped. I'll be trekkin' to Graceland this Sat. for Mouse on Mars.. Hopefully it won't be too empty, given that Radiohead/Beta Band are playing the same night. ======================================================================= Brian MacDonald <brianm@kuci.org> ======================================================================= --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

This show was soooo sick! What is up with Seattle not coming out to represent for the breaks masters! People have to come out and support so we can keep doing these kind of shows...stay tuned for Blim on August 16th and Aphrodite in the near future as well. Hey wait a minute! Jason Blakemore is GOD! Oh, no, wait. Trance totally sucks. Forget I said anything. If you really want to go old school, Babyland plays this Saturday night at the Coconut Teaser. Although I dunno if they'll let you in without a leather jacket and a Flying V and dangly earrings. Don't know who else is on the bill, but it's been scientifically proven that it is impossible to not have fun at a Babyland show. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

catch a house set from jason one night in a non-candy environment and i bet (if you like house) you will be pleasantly surprised. he can spin some very nice stuff.

I am bright green with jealousy! A lot of my friends think Aphrodite's brand of jump-up jungle is too simple to be interesting. But when your basslines are so cool, why compicate things?
