Hullo All, I haven't seen anyone mention the Art Of Perception concept series anywhere so here I go. The series is about conceptualising different races from the Games Workshop RPG ``Warhammer 40,000''. There are three releases out already, all limited edition. The series goes on to twelve releases, then a compilation 2CD with all the tracks from the vinyl and some extra stuff and a box for the vinyl versions are released. Here are the first three releases I've gotten my hands on: AOP-01 Johannes Heil/Kim Gascone - ``Dark Eldar'' AOP-02 The Modernist/Bochum Welt - ``Eldar'' AOP-03 Jay Denham/Silicon Scally - ``Orks'' AOP-04 should be out around now, Rude Solo/Christian Morgenstern's ``Dark Eldar''. Rude Solo are Weatherall/Tenniswood of Two Lone Swordsmen. The info sheet accompanying the first of the series has a partial list of future releases (AOP-04 was originally by Heiko Laux/Michael Mayer). The artist list seems impressive, with Bandulu/DISX3 on AOP-05, Mike Ink/Christian Morgenstern on AOP-06 and Anthony Rother/Kit Builders on AOP-07. Of course no-one knows how much the list will mutate since AOP-04 already differs from the original plan, but Jimi Tenor is mentioned as one (possible) collaborator as well. I haven't given the records a proper listen yet since I was waiting for the first two releases before listening to the third (I'm sort of funny that way if I know I'm going to get the first ones soon even if the order of a concept series doesn't matter at all). Judging from the artist roster, these records are going to be rather nice. Check AOP out at http://www.art-of-perception.com/ (Flash-only site). The series seems to be quite a cross-cut of the whole techno genre set, so there should be something for everyone. I got the The Modernist/Bochum Welt one a while ago and was not to happy with it. One of the Modernist's tracks was pretty much identical to a track on another one of his releases (sorry, can't remember the track name)... So, how is that a conceptualization of a Warhammer 40,000 race? I dunno. Just sounded like he was thinking "fuck, I got to come up with another track here... and I am pressed for time... and... Oh, hey, I have this old track here... I can change it around a bit and... Yes!" -Hess On Thu, 7 Jun 2001, [ISO-8859-1] Nuutti-Iivari Meril?inen wrote: NM> NM> Hullo All, NM> NM> I haven't seen anyone mention the Art Of Perception concept series NM>anywhere so here I go. Well, I had the exact same feeling with the Bochum Welt tracks! One sounds ok, not bad, not great. The other sounds like it's made up from samples from one of his earlier tracks. Can't be bothered to look up the title, I think it was on Desktop Robotics. Thought this was going to be a nice series, but looks like it's gonna end up otherwise. Hope Bochum Welt won't slide off in recycling his old stuff (which I thought was terrific, btw) over and over again ... SayVegin
