Ever since I saw takemura live with tortoise in philly, I've had the second track that he did stuck in my head ... you know, the super tight joint with the singing speak and spell robot. I've been told this is from "Sign", and I have yet to find it. If anyone recorded any of the shows that he performed this at, or has the song otherwise, pleeeeeasssse email me off list!!!! --- -- - Nintari Man --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

i have the "hoshi no koe" release on thrill jockey (cd) and if you are thinking of the same track i am (i saw him in cleveland) it is an alternate version of the track "sign." there is the "album version" that is on "hoshi no koe" and presumably a reworked version on the "sign" ep which may be closer to the one you are looking for. it was released several weeks ago on vinyl, and the thrill jockey site says that it is out of stock.... but i believe a cd version is forthcoming, as there is a date for 6/19 on the site. check www.thrilljockey.com for more info..... did anyone else find that nobukazu takemura was 1000 times better live than tortoise? i'm a tortoise fan.... but i was somewhat disappointed by their performance.

I inquired about the same track a week ago on this list (after Takemura's 30 minute performance at Other Music store in Cambridge, MA) and several people also suggested that it was "Sign". Well, I have "Sign" 12-inch as well as album version on ""hoshi no koe" , and it is NOT the track I am looking for. The only similarity between "Sign" and the track in question is speak-and-spell vocals; while "Sign" is sort of glitchy uptempo number in a major key, the track that he played at Other Music (and I presume in concert) was slow, with piano chords and hip-hop/trip-hop beats, in a minor key... (Does this description fit the track he played in Philly?) I have a suspicion that it hasn't been released yet but I hope I am wrong... --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
