Hakan Libdo's "Audio Coture" seems to me like a perfect antidote to DSP Ennui. He's a subtle and devious sound designer masquarading as a house producer. This album, which collects his Poker Flat EPs sounds great in the club, and at home. kent williams -- kent@avalon.net http://www.cornwarning.com -- Iowa's First Techno Record Label http://www.mp3.com/chaircrusher -- tunes --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

i actually found "tech couture" rather boring. i can imagine it sounding great in a club, but on my home stereo it's just a bunch of not very impressive tech house tracks. but then i was never the biggest house fan. on the other hand, håkan lidbo's album on the danish label april, "after the end", is definitely one of this year's greatest albums. hs --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

it's funny - i'm a huge hakan fan and a huge house fan, and i initially wasn't that taken with "tech couture," either on vinyl or cd. but on subsequent listens, it definitely opens up and reveals a ot of hidden detail. it's actually quite a bit different from, say, a force tracks 12. (and it's HELLA fun to mix with.) but henrik's right, "after the end" -- as well as "before the beginning," also on april -- is a fantastic album, probably hakan's furthest out material. can't even really describe it right now, but it falls somewhere between house and ambient and other... if you dig herbert or doctor rockit, i'm guessing you'll dig those records. cheers philip
