CREATIVE TIME presents 10 YEARS OF FORCE INC./MILLE PLATEAUX
28 June 2001 @ The Brooklyn Anchorage, Brooklyn Bridge NYC
http://www.creative-time.org
live performances from:
PORTER RICKS (Thomas Köner & Andy Mellweg) - Germany
This mysterious duo make their US debut in the unique environment of
the Brooklyn Bridge space. Their dub induced techno releases on Chain
Reaction, Force Inc. and Mille Plateaux have made them legendary
influences in electronic music. Individually, Andy Mellweg is known
as Continuous Mode as well as an early mastering engineer for Basic
Channel's Berlin recording studio. Thomas Koner is highly regarded
for his film and sound installation projects as well as solo releases
on Mille Plateaux and Barooni.
SND - UK
Also making their North American debut, Sheffield UK's, Mat Steel and
Mark Fell are recognized as leading artists in the new era of virtual
software interface production. Also to their credit, both are
involved in interactive media and space projects as well as
organizers of the Lovebytes festival. With two acclaimed releases on
Mille Plateaux and 12" releases on their own SND label, SND have
taken a revolutionary approach to reanimating US techno and
contemporary digital music. A rare and anticipated performance.
kid606 - USA
kid606 is undoubtedly the bastard child posterboy of America's next
wave of electronic producers. The past year has been a massive year
for this underground sensation - his reworking of 'Straight Outta
Compton' last year to his infamous release on Mike Patton's Ipecac
label, album on Mille Plateaux, and now with a lead remix on Depeche
Mode's single 'Dream On' plus a new album on Mille Plateaux and
operating his successful Tigerbeat6 label, the future is brighter
than ever.
DJ sets from:
THOMAS HECKMANN - Germany
Producing music for Force Inc. since our first year of inception,
Thomas Heckmann has proven to be one of Germany's most well respected
techno producers. Recording under many alias's that include Exit 100,
Drax, Welt In sherben, and Knarz, Heckmann was a key pioneer of the
new acid techno style as well as together with Mike Ink responsible
for the Sawtooth sound found today in many techno tracks. His
driving techno signature makes him one of the most popular remixers
and performers today. First NYC appearance since 1993.
PANACEA
Drum 'n' Bass's biggest nightmare, Panacea has definitely made his
mark in the electronic music community with his ferocious attitude
killing break-beats. Leading member of the Position Chrome label, he
shocked the world with his 1996 debut 'Low Profile Darkness' and
continues to do so with his countless 12" releases, 5 albums and
collaborations with Cativo, DJ Scud and Problem Child. A true
innovator in break beat electronics.
