Now available from HEFTY in our newly designed ordering section, the debut release from Beneath Autumn Sky (Enki-du's Mono HEFTY31). Also available, three brand new 12"s by retina.IT (HEFTY28, 29, 30) BAS is Smaze and Zane3. The BAS duo formed in the summer of 2000, when Smaze (best known in the underground world of graffiti art and beat-making) arrived in Jacksonville, FL. There he hooked up with his old pal and comrade dj-in-arms, Zane3. Smaze's earlier solo recordings/methods (Stereo Taxi, Midnight Cracker's Foolish One, Renegade Products) were accomplished via pause button/4-track trickery and the old skool routine of cutting & pasting tape loops/samples. For the BAS sessions, Zane3 would bring in an all important tool to help boost their songwriting quality....a pc computer. For two months straight, the duo would devote nearly all time and effort, day & night (high on caffeine & herbal speed!), into completing twelve tracks. Presently, Smaze is preparing material for the forthcoming BAS full-length album, which should feature collaborations with Zane3 and Scott Herren (Savath+Savalas, Prefuse 73, Delarosa+Asora). Beat-freaks....stay tuned!!! upcoming Hefty Show: 6.22.01 summer solstice hefty artists: slicker, twine, beneath autumn sky, and telefon tel aviv four live sets, approximately 30 minutes each brought to you by infrared museum of contemporary art (mca), chicago 220 E. Chicago Avenue (312) 280-2660 the hefty performance will be around 2 hours and will began at approximately midnight. this will be slicker and beneath autumn sky's chicago debut. also performing are k-rad, trs-80, tv sheriff, 16 stlye. visuals by brien rullman and yum yum. coming soon: IA double CD reissue (with bonus tracks by bogdan raczynski, t.raumschmiere, twine, and retina) slicker "the latest" full-length CD/double vinyl telefon tel aviv "fahrenheit fair enough" full-length CD/vinyl phil ranelin (tribe records - detroit 1970s) reissues and remixes featuring morgan geist, jan jelinek, nobody, slicker, notwist, telefon tel aviv, john herndon, beneath autumn sky, and kirk degiorgio. check heftyrecords.com for updates: BAS in listening station, shows updates, interviews, all new and easy online ordering!
