Hello from Melange. Thank you to everyone who has spun our disc! We are having a little contest - please pass this on to anyone who might be interested: ---------------------------------- Melange Contest #1: you make sound... melange website: http://www.melange.org hi, welcome to the melange contest #1! You make sounds, we use them to make more sounds. We are giving away at least 10 Melange "i/o" CDs (our full length release) to persons who upload or send the most interesting sounds, samples, voices, speeches, bits of dialogue or other noises to us. If we are overwhelmed with quality entries, we will give away more CDs! The number #1 best entry will also get a Melange T-shirt! Wow! The most interesting entries, to be decided by us, will also be used in our next CD, due out around the end of the summer. (Digital) Instructions: 1. make a sound recording, hi-fi, lo-fi, or otherwise. 1a. be creative. It doesn't have to be music (though it could be), it could be your dog, ambient noises, short wave radio, your refridgerator, voices in the distance, a monologue, analog, digital, distorted, effected, clean ... anything. But please do not send someone else's copyrighted material. 2. convert it to .MP3 format*, that is MPEG layer III. Preferably 128 KBPS or better. Please try to keep file sizes down to 2 MB or less. [*If you have something great that is longer, or you do not want to sacrifice great audio quality and would rather send a .WAV or .AIFF or some other format, that can be arranged, just email <melange@andr0id.com> and we'll set that up.] 3. Write the filename of your sample and a short description or anything cryptic about your sample, and you name, address and email address (so we can send you the CD). Save this in a text or word file. You may compress your 2 files in a .zip or .sit archive if you like. Alternatively, you can email the info to us, but please identify your file names clearly. 4. Upload the file(s): a) go to https://www.idrive.com/atom/ b) click on the "upload files" button. On the next page, upload the files to the dropbox folder using the browse button to find them on your hard drive. We will periodically check the drive and remove files. (5. >>DON'T<< email files to me unless you contact me first and I say it's ok.) (Alternate) Instructions: 1. see #1 above 2. If you have something on cassette tape, CD, DAT, minidisc, VHS, vinyl or something else like that, email <melange@andr0id.com> for instructions. You will be given a mailing address. Note that we most likely CANNOT return you materials. After we have the entry, we will mail your CD within a few weeks. Disclaimer: By entering the contest, you (the contestant) agree that any materials uploaded may be used without royalty or payment in a recording. You also agree not to send material created or owned by someone else without their express permission. All decisions relating to the contest winners will be made by members of Melange. All entrants agree to these rules. We are not responsible for any dispute, offense or injury that should arise from the entries to this contest. So if you tape someone without them knowing about it, make sure they have a sense of humor, or that they never find out about it. If they do, you have to deal with it. :-) So otherwise, get permission. You may enter more than once, but don't fill up the iDrive with crap! This contest is open until we decide it is closed but most likely no more than a few weeks.
