I've been trying to transfer some of my modest vinyl collection onto MP3 (so I can listen to them at work), and I've managed to so it ok but the tracks need trimmed at either end, cleaned up, cut into different tracks. Also, the recording levels arn't great. I know Cooledit can do all this, but if I can avoid it I don't want to pay for it. I've also experimented with LP Recorder/LP Ripper which seem to be fine but I'd like a some advice from others. What programs do other people use to do record and split the tracks? Any advice on the best amp and line in settings?
