i think the guy who referred to God as a metal riffing band (sorry, i
deleted the message) was thinking of the dutch band God. there are at
least 3 bands i know of named God. the group we are talking about is
indeed kevin martin and justin broadrick (head of david!) from techno
animal (and so many other projects):::::

the band also included Tim Hodgkinson (of legendary free form rock
band Henry Cow), Lou Ciccotelli (Laika, Spleen and many others), John
Zorn and others...
i've seen them live once and it was really amazing. kind of free jazz
meets dub with the energy of (good) metal. glasses were falling off
tables because the bass (2 i think) was so low and loud. almost
everyone left....not that this is an indication for a good concert.
check out their records (virgin & big cat) - not as impressive as
their live performance but great nevertheless. i have the feeling
that they're rather easy to find (someone said they're kind of rare)
- these albums were released on rather big (indie) labels and noone
bought them when they came out. i see them all the time in 2nd hand
shops. buy them!
and the techno animal album on mille plateaux is also sold very
cheaply around here.
and i would also recommend The Bug - Tapping The Concersation cd
(kevin martin + guests: dj vadim f.e.) on word sound, inspired by The
Conversation (great movie by f.f.coppola). also very easy to find in
the used record bins. seems everyone hates those records...
